Purpose
The purpose of the program is to support junior sport (under 18 y.o) in the NSW operational areas of Glencore’s Coal Assets Australia. The program supports clubs and associations with projects that address their long-term needs. Projects should have a focus on increasing the capacity of the club/association to support participation in junior sport on a sustainable (on-going) basis.
Who is eligible?
Applications for projects are sought from incorporated, not for profit sporting clubs or associations. Communities associated with Glencore’s operations will be prioritised, generally this includes the following Local Government Areas (LGA) and communities:
- Singleton LGA
- Cessnock LGA
- Maitland LGA **NEW
- Scone LGA **NEW
- Muswellbrook LGA
- Mid-Western LGA
Individuals or 'for-profit' organisations will not be considered.
Examples of preferred projects include:
- Projects that increase the capacity of the organisation to allow more children to participate in regular sport over the mid to long term.
- Projects that have an injury prevention or safety focus.
- Projects that have a health focus beyond the general health benefits associated with sports participation.
- Purchase of major pieces of equipment that will have a life of a number of years and support participation or club growth.
- Projects that help improve the income streams and the financial viability of the club/association and decrease the financial cost of children to participate e.g. club canteens.
- Hosting of events that are regional, state or larger that contributes to the income of the club/association and of the local economy.
- Projects that increase the organisations capacity for coaching, officiating, administration or safety e.g. coaching courses, officiating courses.
- Projects that improve the governance of a club/association e.g. strategic plans or plans for marketing, volunteer recruitment and management, etc.
- Projects that promote 'life skills' e.g. positive mental health to their club/association members.
- Projects that demonstrate a high level of cost effectiveness i.e. benefit the maximum amount of junior participants for the investment or increase the viability of the club/association.
- Projects that involve collaboration among different sports within the one local area are encouraged.
What will not be funded?
- Paying for or subsidising registration fees
- Senior (over 18's) clubs
- Funding representative teams to participate in out of area events
- Participation in one-off events e.g. regional/state championships
- Individuals
- Travel or accommodation costs
- Conferences
- Consumables, including sports equipment that lasts for one season or less, ie waterbottles, caps etc
- Ongoing or operational costs of the club/association, eg: insurance
- Projects/events/initiatives that are already complete
- Partial funding of projects where remaining funding has not been secured
What funding is available?
- Maximum funding per club/association is $7,500 so as to allow for multiple clubs/associations to benefit from the program.
- Projects that have a cost to the club/association of greater than $7,500 will be considered however will need to attract additional investment from the club/association and or elsewhere and demonstrate how the entire project will be funded and implemented.
Please DO NOT submit multiple funding applications to Glencore Coal sites for the one project.
Choose only the site which is closest to your project location. Multiple funding applications across our site grant rounds will not be considered.
Project/Activity Completion and Acquittal
Projects must be completed within 12 months from the time of funding.
A project agreement will be entered into that will include providing a project report and/or evaluation.
Successful applicants must provide a full project evaluation acquittal including reporting on the selected project outcomes via the Smarty Grants system when prompted to do so.
